Promoting a Rare Breed

In the 1700-1800's, the Lineback was a very dual-purpose animal, fulfilling the owners' needs for both milk and meat.  As time went on, farmers started to specialize in either dairy or raising beef.  Our current dairy Lineback has been up-bred to achieve a very productive dairy cow.  Genetically superior, this breed has remained versatile enough to be prevalent in these demanding modern times.

Our Mission

In 1985 a handful of Lineback enthusiasts gathered together and formed the American Lineback Cattle Association.  This group had the foresight and desire to maintain and improve this beautiful breed.  With or without any real recognition by farm organizations or farmers alike, persistance prevailed and the organization has grown and developed in the past twenty years.
